The Tampa job market is a weird thing. It can be best described by the areas. First off, you have Downtown. There are the banks in Downtown, some mortgage companies, accounting, and even some upscale law firms in Downtown. It is really your run of the mill, downtown business. If you are interested in any fields of history, the arts, or anything of that nature, you have that in the Downtown area also.
Channelside and Ybor City are going through upswings in business presently. In both neighborhoods, that are close to Downtown, you have different types of businesses there. It is hard to say what is there because a lot of the office space is being built as we speak.
In the Westshore Business District, it is probably one of the fastest and most sought after business areas in Tampa. You do not just have two of the largest malls in Tampa there, but you have the international airport, OSI (which is the the hub for Outback Steakhouse, Carabbas, etc) there. You have several newer business ventures there that started new and are now thriving. You are close to both the Courtney Campbell and the Howard Frankland that connects you to Clearwater and St. Petersburg. There are several call centers, but there are also several financial firms, hotels, and other business that are there. 33607 is the zip code for most of the Westshore Business District.
Another area that is coming up is the Carrollwood/Egypt Lake area. Many of the businesses that are leaving Downtown are coming to these areas, as well as the Westshore area. There are several different types of businesses around the Himes Ave/Busch Blvd/N. Dale Mabry area here.
Along with these, you have Rocky Point, near the Courtney Campbell, that have many businesses also. I am not too good on the specifics, but I know that these areas are not just the hospitality sector and there is more to it then that.
