Red face Nice Inexpensive Hotels In Or Near Tampa

We are coming to Tampa all next week for job and apartment search. Any suggestions on decent hotels for inexpensive cost in safe area, yet easy access to everything? Would it be less costly to stay in St. Pete hotels? We don't need the Upscale hotels, we just need a place to snooze at night and shower. We will be out looking at all of Tampa for most days and trying to find the best area for a family. Any suggestions?????? We know about hotels.com, expedia, etc...etc...etc...but we need specifics...and to hear from those of you who live in the areas or have stayed in the hotels that will allow us to see New Tampa, Downtown, St. Pete, the beaches and more, yet not get robbed walking out of the door. Help......

Is there a particular amt you want to spend...There is a Spring Hill Suites off Cypress Ave in Westshore District, close to downtown, South Tampa areas, easy access to Interstate for New Tampa and St. Pete/Beaches, lots of restaurants, malls, etc.

With plans to move there by September, we are budgeting this 5 day trip to be as inexpensive as possible. But, hoping to find the beauty of Florida to make us want to come back permanently. We won't be in the hotels, except for shower and sleep. The cheaper the better. $69.00 a night or less would be nice that either offer kitchenettes or close to many different restaurants/fast food. We have family in Fort Lauderdale, but don't plan on doing the 4 hour drive on this visit.

The marriot courtyard in Oldsmar has good reviews on trip advisor-around $100.

There is a little motel in safety harbor called mar-bay, it is on phillippe parkway and has an excellent review on trip advisor and ecellent reviews on yahoo-$70 rate. According to the yahoo reviews it has kitchenettes.

You can google these for the reviews
Either of these would give you decent access to all the areas you are interested in.
