Hello all!! Just recently moved here, I am a seasoned restaurant professional with a good amount of food and wine knowledge. I have been following this Forum for some time before my move and hope you regular posters could direct me to a couple of quality places to apply to or maybe there's a thread on here about restaurants I haven't found yet... Looking in the St. Pete area primarily but am open to other areas. I will be going to St. Pete College soon, just letting the old schoolers know that I'm not a carpetbagger coming on CD trying to get some info...

my favorite resturant in the bay area is Ceviche. (www.ceviche.com). I know that isn't real helpful, but If I were looking for a job in the service industry, I think it would be pretty cool to work there.

The Hurricane at Pass-a-Grille. There are many really good places all over Tampa Bay. Colonnade on Bayshore is my favorite for grouper.

Tampaguy03 has a thread where he lists a lot of his favorite places.

Guppy's on Indian Rocks Beach is a favorite of ours. Good, quality food, next to the water. Their sea scallops with vanilla glaze is a favorite of mine.

We love the mom and pop hole in the walls, so other than Guppy's, I have no other recommendations. :/

Good luck in your search! We constantly complain about the lack of good "quality" food choices in the Tampa Bay area. They exist, but you have to drive considerably to find them.

The Belleview Biltmore in Clearwater would be my choice... they are remodeling right now but you might want to look into it, the place is spectacular.

There are a few trendy places in South Tampa, especially around Howard Avenue. You might want to check some of those places out.

Bern's Steak House is famous for it's steak and wine collection.

Bern's Steak House > Top Menu > Prime Info > Frequently Asked Questions (http://www.bernssteakhouse.com/PrimeInfo/FrequentlyAskedQuestions/tabid/64/Default.aspx - broken link)

Internationally known for its vast wine collection, perfectly aged steaks and famous dessert room, Bern’s Steak House offers a world-class, incomparable dining experience. When Bern Laxer opened in 1956, he envisioned Bern’s as Art in Steaks. Today, son David Laxer and Chef de Cuisine Habteab Hamde continue Bern’s tradition of excellence with a gastronomic adventure that includes prime steaks cut-to-order, 21 choices of caviar, fresh seafood and organic vegetables grown on Bern’s farm.
For oenophiles, the 6,500 label wine collection, a perennial Wine Spectator Grand Award winner, provides ample opportunity for exploration. After dinner, relax upstairs in a private booth with a Bern’s signature dessert or one of the 1,000+ after-dinner spirits, wines and cordials.
