My wife and I are considering the purchase of a vacation condo in TI or IRB. We visited IRB, but have not seen TI. Are the two locations very similar? In a satellite map, TI beaches seem to have more sand. Is that so? Also are there major differences in elevation that would make one more desirable than the other as related to possible flooding? The IRB condo is in Windrush Cove and the TI one is on Paradise Blvd next to the Yacht Club

Thanks!

Nate in DC

If I were buying, my money would go into Indian Rocks Beach, no question. It's not that Treasure Island isn't nice, but Indian Rocks Beach is a special place on the Pinellas coast. It feels like old Florida in places, it has the beach cottage feel that most other Pinellas beach cites don't provide. Want an eclectic mix of restaurants and a small town vibe? From my perspective, at least, that's Indian Rocks Beach. If you're not in Pass-a-Grille, IRB is THE way to go from where I sit.

From an outsider's perspective, I totally agree on IRB. I disliked Treasure Island. It's far too touristy and tacky. Go for IRB.

Plus, far more traffic on TI than IRB, due to the Central Ave/Gulf Blvd intersection.
