Thanks for the great information everyone is supplying. I have lived in Tampa my entire life (Seminole Heights, New Tampa, and Temple Terrace). My wife and I are turning 30, but we are not the average 30 year old couple, not that 30 is old or anything. We have no kids, nor want any.

We want to be able to walk to bars/nightlife. We are looking to rent in south Tampa, or west shore area near international mall. We will be renting; looking to spend between 1500 and 2000 a month. We visited my brother in law this weekend and fell in love with his luxury condo living near lake Eola in downtown Orlando. We decided we are going to downsize from our house to a nice apartment/condo in south Tampa that is pet friendly.

what do you guys recommend? We can mix in well with 20 something's or 40 something's. We just want to be able to walk to bars, farmers markets, etc. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. We are going to sign a lease in the next two weeks, as we finally sold our house.

Well this is my first time doing this so I'm hoping it will help. I currently live in New Tampa and can't stand it as there is nothing to do here. I am 29 years old and looking for a place to move in downtown Tampa. I will be looking for a 2 bedroom between 1500-2400 a month depending on what I can find. I would like to find a modern place with young professionals in a great area. I own a house here but will be renting that out within a month so need to move quick. I was thinking at first Harbour Island but I'm not sure if that will be ideal from what I am reading. Any advice would be appreciated.....

Harbour Island is very nice, but the key question is your lifestyle. Will you be going out a lot to bars and restaurants? SoHo or someplace else like Channelside? You certainly won't be walking from Harbour Island to Soho.

CraigM is a real City Data treasure, and he laid things out pretty well back when he was an active poster.
