Yep, you heard right.........many insurances won't write homeowners policies in Fl. and one state farm, will not write any more if your close to the water
within 8 miles I think, you'd have to check it out, don't quote me on this, but
I'm sure its State Farm.

Citizens Ins. the state run and last resort, insures half of Fl. and their rates
are not cheap.

Good luck......better get a few guotes and see where you stand.

Sure you can......like I said, FL is a mess right now, between insurance and trying to cut taxes, everything is up in the air.....in Jan, 2008 we are suppose to vote on a new super exemption to lower taxes. And insurance companies want to make money (raise rates) and the state says no, so some of them have pulled out of Fl altogether. Trying to buy a home and get insurance is crazy, of course if you pay cash, then you don't need insurance.
I've heard all kinds of numbers on what people are paying, $2,000 up to $4,000 a yr. in insurance........I'm not trying to discourage you, but please
check the area your interested in and go to any agency and see what the rate would be for that area.

I don't envy anyone trying to figure out this mess.......good luck
