Hi again!
We are still working on relocating from VT to the Tampa area...we are applying to jobs throughout the area but the majority are in plant city, lakeland, some in clearwater, st. petes and tampa.

We've also been trying to do as much ground work to find good family friendly neighborhoods but it's hard to do much research not knowing where we'll end up for a job. So I'm wondering - are there any great areas that would be of acceptable commute distance (like under 45min) to any of the above mentioned job locations? Thinking if I can hone in on just a couple of areas to research instead of trying to learn every nook and cranny of the entire Tampa bay area.....

Thanks so much!

Since you want the middle of Lakeland and Clearwater you pretty much have locked yourself into Tampa. I'd get the jobs first.

If one of you works in Lakeland and one in Clearwater and you do live in Tampa your both going to be sick of traffic jams.

I'd focus on the jobs, then you can rent for a bit if need be to do your research.

Hi Kellihope,
I live in Brandon and I love it. We moved here in 2003 from MN, with four kids. Traffic is bearable once you learn the roads, the people are family, schools are great. No regrets.

My husband commuted to Lakeland from Seminole every day for 5 years - not to be recommended but needs must... anyway it's prob easier to get to Lakeland from Seminole than it is to get from Lakeland to Seminole in mornings. If you end up on west side of Tampa Bay, then Seminole/Palm Harbor/Eastlake area are all good for family friendly, relatively crime free, good school areas.

thanks for the responses! In a new development, my husband is now thinking of enrolling in school to be an RN. So now the question will be what school, where and shall we live somewhere temporarily while he's in school or buy something in a nice surrounding area...time will tell thanks again!
