Looking for a good Ob/Gyn Spring Hill or Tampa (Hernando: insurance, hospital)

I am relatively new to the area and have just discovered that I am pregnant. I don't know that many people, and wondered if anyone could give a good recommendation for an OB/Gyn in the Spring Hill/Brooksville area. I would also be willing to drive to Tampa. Thanks!

I need one too, preferably in the Spring Hill area. I have already tried 2 different ones and were not crazy about either of them....any suggestions would help.

I'm in the market too. I tried Dr. Liebensberger who is one of the few females in the area. Because I was a new patient I had to see the Mid-Wife. It was the most incomplete exam I've ever had - and having gone the infertility route I've had many. Then they gave me a script for a mammogram to the only place which doesn't accept my insurance. When I called back and asked for a generic one, twice in a two month period, I never received a return call. I went to my family doc and got a generic one so that I could go anywhere.

A few weeks later I received a letter saying that she was no longer going to accept my insurance because of the reimbursement rate, which, BTW is three times what it was when I was in the Philadelphia area. So this year I'm in the market for a new doc.

I take a class with a woman, retired from a fertility clinic. I think I'll ask her for a reco.

Wish I could remember the correct name but it's Italian...something like Scunziani or similar. She is big on natural healing but does traditional, medical as well. I will keep looking for her name and post when I find it. I'm not sure but I thinks she's affiliated with Oaks Hospital in Spring Hill on Cortez so a call there might yield something. I know a few people who have gone to her and heard she's terrific!

I know this may sound silly, but I am keeping my old ob/gyn from NY. When I told them that I was moving, they said that so many of thier patients keep them as thier primary and just come back for thier yearly visit. (providing there are no other med problems). I went to the same dr for 15 years, he delivered all of my kids and knows me very well. It is so hard to try to find a new gyn. So whenever I go back home to visit, I will just make my appt for then. They told me that they would always squeeze me in. Just a thought.

I just looked in the phonebook, there isn't much to choose from, my grandkids
were delivered by Dr. Armbruster, used to have a office on Mariner Blvd near the YMCA.........I guess he disappeared too, was a very good dependable person......sorry I can't help any further, but that's a good idea, I know when we moved here from NJ once a year I'd go back for the dentist, eye exams
and my own doctor, I would advise though that in case of an emergency you have a back-up doctor down here also.

I think your talking about Dr. Maria? Scuziano-Singh. She is an internist at Access Health Care on Spring Hill Drive. I've seen her husband Dr. Singh. That place is the only Dr's office I've gone too so far that I actually like. It's a walk-in-clinic, but you have to make an appointment to see Dr. Scuziano.

I've seen 3 obgyn's so far. The first was Dr. Shakfeh on Mariner close to County Line and I felt like I was in a puppy-mill, he was very rushed and I had a hard time understanding him, so next I tried Dr. Phillip Watterson on Mariner close to Northcliffe. His assistant Jean was very nice he seemed a bit of a scatterbrain ( he was the bext of the 3) but when he was out and I had an emergency his cover Dr Niner. was HORRIBLE!!! I now heard that Dr. Dieffenbach is suppost to be good. That came from a nurse at Spring Hill Regional, he delivered her children, so I may try him next.

My daughter-in-law went to Dr. Diffenbach, she didn't like him.

Health care in Hernando Cty is rough, the office I go to has had 10 different doctors in there in the last two years, I had problems with a medication and told one doctor and he told me keep taking it, I went to another doctor and he took me off the medication and tried something different......PS there are now advisorys out about the medication that it causes heart attacks in patients...........wonder,great care here in Hernando Cty, sure, right.
A Friend of mine was taking diabetic medicine because the doctor told her she was diabetic, changed doctors and WOW.........doctor asked her why she was on a certain medication, she said she was diabetic, blood tests showed he sugar was normal, other doctor could have killed her with overmedicaton........don't know what to tell all you new residents, choose
carefully......the medical care here is not that great.
