me too, i've been lucky to travel all over the world and have never seen a town without sidewalks before!

I didn't mean it was going to be an Amtrak train between Tampa and Orlando, but last article I read on it stated that the train would ride at 69 miles an hour!!!!! we drive 70, 80....

Thanks to the law, all new businesses must put in sidwalks in front of their business, which is why we get random sidewalks. I don't understand why the state doesn't just put them .

But your arguement about a Tampa-Orlando rail line being useless by saying it would take 3 hours doesn't make sense because we are talking about HIGHSPEED rail, not Amtrack. That is why no one uses Amtrack in the first place.

It was 120-140mph....form what ikno. 120mph is Semi HSR by Northeastern / European standards...True HSR starts at 150mph.

Take a trip to Tysons Corner, VA (in Northern VA). It was named one of the worst planned areas in North America. User8 will know what I'm talking about.

I support his decision 100%. I didn't vote for him, but will in the future if he keeps this trend on protecting taxpayers against wasteful spending.

A "high speed" rail line between Tampa and Orlando is a stupid idea.

The amount of people that would ride it would have been miniscule.

You think people think we're stupid because we turned down that money? We'd have REALLY looked like idiots with a train that...

1-Is not high speed
2-That no one would have ridden
3-That didn't have a connection to any sort of local light rail
4-That would have cost us more money in the long run

Also...does anyone here really think that this is the ONLY chance that Florida will ever get to build high speed rail? Really? If it's REALLY needed, we'll build it ourselves, and do it the right way.

Now was not the right time.

And as for anyone else thinking we're stupid...is anyone here aware that Ohio and Wisconsin BOTH turned this money down before it was offered to Florida?

Let California have it. If California is the example of govt spending that we should aspire to, then we're in real trouble.

Haha. Because Ohio and Wisconsin are states we should look to regarding anything. California does have a budget they're working to control but a lot can be learned from the state.
