Hi, we're going to be looking for bikes for our new place in Dunedin. Don't want to spend an arm and a leg, just something to bop around town in (we're both in our 60's, but I'd like to be able to train myself at least to bike out the Honeymoon Island causeway eventually). If it was here at home in Toronto, I'd go to one of many used bicycle shops and pick up something decent for about $100 perhaps, or maybe less.

I've googled bike shops and all I've found are high-end bike stores. Anyone know of anywhere that sells decent used bikes?

There is one in Curlew and Alt19 in the plaza where dollar tree and salvation army are.

There is another in Main street just before it branches into two. Not sure the road crossing it. Driving west, it is in the left side corner of the plaza where a car washer is, I believe.

Toys r us carry some that are reasonably priced too although not used.

Good luck

Craigslist.com is probably going to be your best bet for bikes around that range. Or Wal Mart. Re-Cycle looks like a cool place...

I'm not wedded to that price range. If I can find a good quality new bike for $200-300, I might spring for it. I've looked at the Walmart bikes, and I think I can do better than that. I'd especially like to make sure that the bike I get fits my body, and is adjusted correctly, since I have issues with my back.

There's a bike shop walking distance from my home, the "Enegy Conservatory", but I see that their hybrids are in the $3-500 range. I'd love to buy from a nearby store, for service reasons, but don't want to spend that much.

They have used and consignment bikes upstairs. Also, there is a shop called Dunedin Cyclery along alt 19 across from Stirling Links Golf Course. Haven't been in there but worth a check.

Default Bicycles

I have bought many bicycles off of craigslist as my kids grow. I have bought highline bicycles used for about what a dept. store bicycle costs new. There is a huge difference in bicycles, those Wal Mart Schwinn bicycles have nothing in common with those great Schwinn bicycles from Chicago, other than the name.
