Thanks Bezzled,
I am seeing and experiencing exactly what you just said......no blue sky here, at least not for me. I tend to believe that it's that way for everyone........it's the same or worse in Tampa(cost of living, and wages).

Yeah I have lived here for 20 yrs. I think the real change started when I got out of the military around 2004. The housing market soared, and taxes went through the roof. Then hurricanes hit, and insurance was through the roof as well. Florida now is in a alot of trouble. People are leaving the state every day. Wages are to low to help with the increase of Gas, taxes, insurance.
The only way to change what is happening to to increase the wages across the board in Florida.
Until then, you will see more homes for sale every month, as we are number 1 in U.S. in foreclosures.
That is why I am selling my condo and moving out of the state.

Now I get it rocket man, you write fiction.
The first moster truck show was in Pontiac, Michigan not Pittsburgh.
Where's the Beef came out in Jan. 84, you timeline would put it after 86.
It was created by Dancer, Fitzgerald, Sample not CBS.
Diller did not buy HSN until 1999.
Washington died in 1799, he could have never lived in a home in 1897.

Nice try Peterson........
Sorry buddy, but1) Speer and Paxton relinquished their positions and Diller took HSN over in 1992 (Bud Paxton and Roy M Speer) were my bosses....... 2) the agency worked with us in the creating of both ad campaigns. 3)I held the show at the Butler County Fair Grounds in 1978. We used Tractor Pulling gear because the sleds were not yet constructed for trucks. I did make a mistake on the date it was 1797 and that was the year that the deed was transferred. This is on record with the historical society and I bought the property from the ex-vice president of Westinghouse......Henry Gagliardi. It was called Washington's military Academy.
Nice try.....I have better things to do than right fiction for you!

I forgot to mention that when you said "The first Monster Truck Show" was in Pontiac. You might be right I am not sure.......because when I held this event as I said I called my event the Gig-A-Roo.(held another one in 1992)"Gig-A-Roo 92" was televised on TNT and ESPN. We had snow on Memorial week-end at the same place Butler County Fairgrounds) Because of the wheather in "92" had all sorts of problems. However, it was Conway Twitty's last outdoor performance. (May 1992). Check it out everything I said is fact.
At that time(1978) the 4 wheel drive accessory business had just exploded......with lift kits, tires, wheels, detroit lockers etc etc. Nobody had held a show to display all the trucks people had built. I also let them show their abilities with the sled they pulled. The term Monster is not one I used.
The network changed hands with Diller's group in 1992. It took a while for all to transpire due to allot of issues. The management group Paxton and Speer used to run the network were removed when they relinquished their positions and were paid for the controlling shares they owned.
In advertising on national accounts if an agency wants to work with a media provider because they share a mutuaL interest in an account is not unusual. Especially if the media side has a good creative department. I worked on almost all of my ad campaigns with agencies. They came to us because they had the account, so in turn they controlled how it was handled. They always got the credit because of being the agency of record.
I really did not find it that important to be so detailed.....all I was doing was explaining how fast things can change after a lifetime of great things going on. After, 3 different requests to do so. I have no need to try and impress this forum or you. If I am able to help somebody with my story and they don't make the same mistakes I did it was worth it. Once called a fiction writer(liar) I felt the need to explain. If you still would like to debate me on the subjects I think you have way too much time on your hands. You now know why I can read forums during the day while working on a job...........what the_ _ _ _ is your deal Mr. Know About Nothing.
In this day and age do you really think with internet searches and search engines I am stupid enough to write fiction while looking for a job. All my story is verifable,(DO SOME RESEARCH INSTEAD OF JUST AN INTERNET SEARCH)........ THINK ABOUT IT !
You are probably a good guy but you are definitely wrong about this !

Heah,
Why don't we get real here. I am from the Midwest and the states are highly unionized there like the northeast. It is all relative. If you make $150,000 in NY City you will not make the same here in Tampa unless you transfer in. Rent, utilities, food, it all costs. Florida is a service state and not highly unionized. So you will most definitely take a cut in pay. Unless you can hold out for a long time and get the pie in the sky salary. Competition is high for those jobs in Tampa. Unless you someone that can get you in, be happy with another job and keep looking for the six figure income.

more people are leaving florida than entering these days and most entering are retirees not worried about jobs and have planned for having enough money to live. florida is in trouble as someone else had posted. many people have left or are trying to leave as it has become more difficult for most to make ends meet here.
