I totally disagree. I believe your view point is inaccurate.

I have a lot of interest in improving the state of FL as well as the United States as a whole in the way of education. As I stated, it is the future of this nation that depends on the school students of today.

I agree its OK to cut budgets, but that is a necessity of the economic situation of the country as a whole. FL has to make cuts now, at all levels, to avoid serious financial disaster in the future. Any budget has pork in it that can be cut.

I believe the article does state the methodology used to create the table and the resulting statistics. Now, if you can find something that disputes U.S. News & Report, please provide it. What should we do, take your word for it?

Please show me where I stated that its ok to increase class sizes?

What options do you recommend instead of across the board cuts in budget?

Frankly, what does any of what the state of FL does since you don't even live here?

I believe he/she was addressing me, Spring Hillian. I posted that I do recommend increasing class size.

The first private school I could think of, The University of Tampa, costs about $23,000 a year for tuition. Florida charges about $4-5k, depending on the school.

You must have been educated in a public school.

Who's WE? You live in NYC. Where are your statistics for the bottom 10 across the nation? Or should we just accept your word for it?

But you really have no say in this since you have a selfish position because you don't have children. I would never send my kids to FL public schools but I still want the public schools to get better because I'm not selfish.

Maybe, but he/she quoted me in the response. This class size thing was an issue when I went to school in NYC back in the 1970's. We had 35 kids in a class, every class, all the time.

Lol I have lived in FL for a long time.

Stop spending so much money on welfare, food stamps, and public assistance for the poor in general. Maybe if they know the government will not support them people will stop having children they cannot afford. How about cutting back on administrative positions temporarily, or extra curricular activities? What about kicking high school students out at the age of 20 instead of allowing them to keep going to school? If they haven't graduated by then they don't deserve to be in school.

Yes the economy is bad right now but children's education should not be sacrificed because of it.

This does not mean that people are 'free' to pick other people's pockets for their own demands...especially the ones who can well afford to send their children to school. Someone who is earning $200,000 a year, has no right to pick the pocket of someone who earns $20,000.
Sorry, Pookie, when someone leaves the nest, they are responsible for their own future. I took out a bunch of loans to pay for my education, and I felt a supreme amount of satisfaction when I paid them off after a few years of working.

I'm not quite sure how you equate paying for your own education with socialism, but you go ahead and run with that theory.

Statistics are from the National Educators Association. I can't post a link right now but will do so later- I'm on my phone. FL spends $10,593 per student which is 41 on the list. Vermont is the highest at $21,379.
