Okay, possibly moving to Gulfport. I am 17 (Going on 18.) The town/city/village seems mad cool, BUT I have never visited. And somtimes Florida conjures up images of retirement homes everywhere, but GP seems like an exeption. Can anyone tell me what there is to do for younger people?
Thanks!

Gulfport probably has a larger retired population, but you're pretty much halfway between Downtown St. Pete and St. Pete Beach, which will probably have more activities that will interest you.

For what it's worth, Gulfport is bordered by St. Pete to the north and east, Boca Ciega Bay to the south, and a small unincorporated wedge of land about a mile wide borders Gulfport on the west, buffering it from South Pasadena.

How far exactly? Walking distance? Biking distance? Kayaking distance? ha-ha.

Gulfport is a neat little "villagey" type area, very artsy and cool but TINY. When we went up for the day last summer, there was almost no one around, it felt very desolate except for the people at a couple bars on the bay there. To me, good place to visit but wouldn't want to live there. It's close to a rather run-down area of St. Pete, too. You would need to visit and decide if it's what you are looking for.

Downtow Gulfport is about four miles from Downtown St. Pete and about three miles from Downtown St. Pete Beach, so walking would be a bit of a stretch, but you could bike it if you wanted to. And kayaking is always a possibility, too, hah.

It's a short drive to either of those places, and public transportation is available if you're able to plan around the bus schedule.
