Hi Everyone! my husband and i are looking to move to FL around May 2012. We decided that the Tampa area meets most of the basic needs as far as location but when look more into specifics we are getting a little overwhelmed. This forum so far has been a huge help!!! And i look forward to reading responses, if any, to this thread We have a baby so crime is our biggest concern. I'm not stupid and do know that looking for a crime free area around Tampa is probably not going to happen but little violent crime is best. We will be buying a house, not renting and want to stay within 45 minutes of Tampa, somewhere with a family feel, in a good school area, no ghetto or hood areas, as far as price goes, we would like to stay around $150,000. Oh, one more thing is flood zones! no high risk flood zones please haha. Thank you so much in advance for responses im sure this gets repetitive over time but i assure you it is greatly appreciated!!!

What is your criteria for a home (sq ft etc)? For 150k you can find a nice home in Brandon, Riverview or Valrico quite easily. Not to mention Carrollwood, New Tampa, Wesley Chapel...you have plenty of options for family friendly areas in that price range. It just really comes down to the specifics about the property.

Where is the employment? What is an acceptable commute time? Do you want new or older home.

the employment is for hillsborough county. we would like to stay within 45 minutes and preferably newer bc i have been reading how the building codes have changed recently and the newer homes are better protected from flooding and hurricanes

Byebyewinter is a great name, I agree with that!

For the OP asking for a recommendation for a relocation realtor, the forum posters can do this in a direct message (DM) please.

That shouldn't be hard to do. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
