I lived there for a few years when I was younger with my mother. That was 12 years ago, but it was a very nice place to live. It was very safe. My mother never felt worried letting us kids play and ride our bikes in there without adult supervision. We lived in a townhouse. The holiday party was great and the place was very well landscaped. Maintenance also came very quickly.

It's very affordable for what you get. I considered moving there when I first got my own apartment but I wanted to have laundry units inside my apartment and there you have to use the community laundry room.

This may sound dumb, but what area (streets) would be considered New Tampa? Also, what is considered suitcase city?

I love holiday parties, sounds like a good place.
Generally speaking, from Carlton Arms if you were to hop on I-75 and go north to the Bruce B Downs exit and make a right off the exit, you are in New Tampa. There are several restaurants and shopping options there and it is new, clean, and safe. If you were to leave Carlton Arms and head west on Fletcher, just past the USF Campus and the area south of that is Suitcase City - it's gritty and a bit sketchy there - not an area you want to spend a lot of time in, but I used to live in the USF area and shopped at the Wal-Mart and Target on Fletcher and never had any issues. There are a lot of trashy & ghetto people in those stores but I wouldn't say it's unsafe.

Thanks again to everyone, I am going on Monday to look at the apartments and get a feel for the area. Can't wait.
