I have a tight budget and we just moved to the area. I am looking for fun things to do with my son that are in the local area. (parks...ect) He is only 4 almost 5 and he loves the nature. If anyone could point out some great free places to go (or very cheap) that would be great!

Go to Fort Desoto before they start to increase the fees...for $ 1.10 you can enjoy the beautiful nature there...walk on the beach, walk in the park or go onto the Pier...go and see the dog beach where dogs have a good time...

Easily a nice day and not too expensive for an entire day. you can bring your cooler and bbq stuff since they have bbq available, but you have to come early for that.

Do a google for mommy groups or playgroups in the area. I know there are several in the Brandon area and lots of others throughout Tampa. The Mommy Network (type it in without spaces) has mommy groups all over the country and I believe one started up in Tampa not too long ago. These groups are a wealth of information on free or cheap things to do with your kiddos. There is also an online newsletter called Macaroni kid that has a Brandon area version that lists a lot of activities for kids.
