Hi folks! I am interviewing for a job at Tropicana Field in the next couple of weeks. My wife & I currently reside in Kansas City, Kansas and are pretty excited about this potential opportunity. We are a healthy couple, I am 36 and my wife is 31, and we LOVE to do outdoorsy stuff....and our son is 4. The cost of living seems to be in match with KC, which is a good thing...our main concern is figuring out a place to live that is close to family friendly beaches, in an area that is more Leave It To Beaver than young and trendy, near Tropicana Field (within a 30 minutes drive) and in a good school district. The most I would consider spending on a house would be $200k. Does anyone have any tips or things to consider about the city and suggestions on areas to move to? Thanks!!!

I'm sure your kids will be fine. Back in the day people sent their kids to where they were told, and somehow we all ended up OK.

By the way, what kind of job are you getting at Tropicana Field? You going to be an usher or something?

You need to research homeowner's insurance. In addition to that, the Pinellas County coastal area to include some inland areas require flood insurance which will have an effect on your monthly housing allowance.

Just about anywhere you live in St Pete you wont be more than a 15 minute drive to the beach.
Places i've lived in St Pete
Gulfport
Old NorthEast
Pinellas Park
Madeira Beach
Never had a problem and schools seemed OK.

Try Seminole _ really close to beaches, very safe environment, good schools and a lot of high and dry non evac, non flood zones. Also Palm Harbor / East Lake, really nice areas, great schools but much father from St Pete and beaches. Seminole is about 20 mins to downtown out of rush hour, then maybe 20-30 when busy.
