The population of Jacksonville is only 1.3 mil, and Tampa is nearly at 3 mil as of 2006. Tampa DOES have crime but it is nothing out of the ordinary, especially in the suburbs. My hometown has never seen a murder, ever, in its history. Jacksonville seems pretty dull, business and entertainment wise... There is so much going on in Tampa, so if you're looking to live a faster lifestyle, the choice is clear. Anyone who wants more in-depth info, private message me anytime.

The population of the Tampa Bay area(inludes Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, Polk, Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties) is about 3 million. The CITY of Tampa has a population of about 370,000 within the city limits.

Yeah, my mistake Tampaguy... it is a habit of mine to refer to the greater metropolitian area as simply "city." Yes, Tampa's city proper does have about 370,000. The metro area consisting of Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, and Hernando counties have 2.7 million as of the latest figures.

Downtown Jacksonville stinks-bleh!
I hate Jax. It's old and nasty. I am not saying Tampa is the greatest, but it beats Jax. Not only that but it gets WAY colder up there since it's farther north. But hey, if you want to be within 30-1 hr. from Georgia, Jax. is for you.

It is about the same as everywhere else, not so good. There are jobs around but mostly contractor jobs.
