Post GOOD Clearwater Restaurants/Bars???

Hi:

We are having a difficult time finding really good restaurants within the Clearwater/St. Petersburg/Tampa Area:

Seafood (except for Guppies)
Sushi
Mexican

???????????

Any recommendations would be helpful!

Also, where do young people (21+) hang out on the weekends? We have tried numerous bars, but there does not seem to be much of a nightlife compared to the Philadelphia area.

Thanks!

Hi! My fiance and I recently moved into the Clearwater/Largo area also! We've discovered that Rumba's is really good and if you want some awesome Polish food go to Perogi's We haven't hit the bar scene yet, I do believe we'll be conquering that next weekend. My *new* local friends said that if you want some awesome seafood to go to the St. Pete beach area and to stray away from the Treasure Island/ Clearwater ones.

You can't really compare nightlife here to that of Philadelphia. If you're much into the club/dance scene then Ybor city in Tampa on the weekends is hopping with action. Also, look into bars/restaurants in the Soho/Hyde Park area. Downtown St. Pete has many great restaurants, many bars, ice cream shops, concert venues, visual/perfoming arts center, and a movie theatre all within walking distance from one another so obviously this is a pretty happening place on weekends, and to a much lesser extent on weekday evenings.

For seafood, I don't know your price range but check out Mid Peninsula Seafood on 49th street. Cheap and simple. Park Shore Grille in downtown St. Pete is a great new place. They serve several seafood entrees like grouper cakes and barbeque shrimp. Also check out Crazy Conch Cafe out on Tierra Verde if you get a chance. Oh, and Keegan’s Grill on Indian Rocks beach. That should keep you busy for a while.

For sushi, I like Sushi Fune in Largo.

Mexican? El Toro Negro in Kenneth City (next to St. Pete), Taco Nazo, and Mi Mexico in Tampa.

We like Sushi Zen in St. Petersburg. It is a total dive, but great fish and great prices. The service is excellent.

Default Dunedin Main Street

Island Way Grill has good seafood & sushi...Clearwater Beach area in Island Estates, they have another restaurant in Indian Shores named Salt Rock Grill if that is closer for you, that ones aims more toward the steak side but still good sushi & sashimi....Love Guppies, Keegans,or any of the Frenchy's on Clearwater Beach but that is more beach food but a great view at Rockaway's.

What kind of nightlife are you looking for....nightclubs or beer & wine, more mellow kind? Dunedin has a small scene but it gets pretty busy on the weekends. There is Flanagan's/Irish bar, Chic-a-Boom Room & The Martini Club/martini bars, Skip's Bar & Grill/neighborhood corner bar, Dunedin Brewery/brew pub w/ good beer, Blur/nightclub, and more all in a 3 block area.

Hope that helps some......at least it is safe and you don't have to worry about getting mugged like Ybor
