I couldn't wait to dine at Columbia at the St.Pete Pier boy was I disappointed! The food was not great I ordered the paella for two and it had plenty of rice but little seafood! The service was nothing special either! Now maybe this was not the Columbia restaurant to go to but if they put their name on it shouldn't they make sure their reputation is not being damaged? Now I know the Pier is closed but this restaurant did nothing to help make the Pier a dining spot worth going to!!

I've been to the original Columbia in Ybor City and the one in St. Augustine a few times each and I've never had a bad experience. Hopefully it was just your visit that was off.

Not a Bay Area thing by any means, but I find both Five Guys and Chipotle to be horribly overrated. Mediocre/bad food at high prices. Like most chain restaurants.

Five Guys is a definite let-down. Everyone was describing them like the second coming of Cheeseburger Christ, and their burgers were kinda disappointing for $10. They should build one in Dallas, so Texans that moved from Florida can line up in front of it and cry (like they did for In-and-Out Burger).

Columbia can be a good choice but it's way over priced and overrated living on a reputation established a generation ago and these newbess chefs) are simply well newbees. Jacksons,,Various,Hyde Park restaurants Tipano's, Hoolihands, are all maginal and overpriced. As for Datz we love the atmosphere but management doesn't have a clue where to purchase their corn beef and the result is what we refer to as a "fat sandwich on a kaiser" To get "real"
corn beef is the Corn Beef Corner on Bay Pines Blvd (hint hint) Nevermind. Just go to the Cheese Cake Factory to get a smile on.

Wow, I like Five Guys and Chipotle. They are both good to me and represent pretty good value for your money.

If you want a real let down, go somewhere like Shepherds or Sam Seltzers or Green Iguana or Bonefish Grill or Crabby Bills or Bubba Gump Shrimp or....you get the idea.

There are tons of places around here that are quite expensive and overrated considering what you get for your money.

The original Columbia in Tampa and the one in Sarasota are excellent and I highly recommend. The one in St. Pete is on its way out, so I'm not surprised it wasn't good.

I too think 5 Guys is overrated especially those fat, limp soggy fries!

I'm not a fan of 5 Guys either. Their burgers are dry and overcooked. I'm also not a fan of the Tampa Cuban, though that's not specific to any particular restaurant.
