I currently live in Indianapolis, and am renting with a company who has a property I can transfer my lease to, I will have about 6 months left on the lease. The apartment is in the area of 4th St. North and Gandy Blvd North in the St. Petersburg area. Can anyone familiar with the area tell me about it? what is the area like, demographics, commute time to tampa, etc?

I'm not looking for specific information about the complex (Lincoln Shores) but more or less just info about the area.

Hi there. I don't live far from the area you're interested in - maybe about 2 miles. I'm in the Carillon Parkway area across from Home Shopping Network.

At 4th Street & Gandy Boulevard you're only a few minutes from the Gandy Bridge which would take you into South Tampa. Your best bet would be to go about 5 minutes down the road and take the Howard Frankland Bridge, which will take you to downtown Tampa.

The 4th Street & Gandy Boulevard area has a nice amount of shopping close by, as well as a few really nice marinas. It's a nice area. You should be comfortable there.

The apartments there are typical of complexes found everywhere but the location is central to the whole bay area. Easy to get to anything from 4th and Gandy. Good luck with the move...

My major concern is crime and safety.... My wife is Caucasian, is in her early twenties, and has never lived anywhere other than right outside a small city (100k) where their are not any "really" dangerous areas. Would she be safe going to a close gas station or shopping area alone at night? What about walking a dog around the area in the evening alone? Thank you for all your help!
