Help in St. Pete (apartments, rentals, condo)

I came down from New England for 5 days to look for an apartment home in clearwater, but me and my girlfriend seem to like downtown St. Pete better. Are there any reasonable 1 or 2 bedrooms under $1000 a month for rent downtown and if so where should I look? We spent all of our planning looking in clearwater, but found it to be more of a vacation spot unless we arn't looking in the right areas. What streets are some of the bars or entertainment on in St. Pete? We've been down near the pier and tropicana field and were wondering if there was more action in other parts of St. Pete? We really need help finding an apartment by Monday....any help would be so much appreciated

Downtown St. Pete most bars and restaurants are located Central Avenue from the Bay front to Tropicana Field(16th Street) and the areas around it(from 5th Avenue North to 10th Avenue South).
Check craigslist.com and the St Pete Times for private condo/townhome rentals, and/or a realtor for rentals.

Central ave and baywalk plenty of bars and clubs and lounges for you to hang out at.
