I may have gone on an anti-Tampa tirade, but I have to admit, she's been good to me. I've been able to move around in careers and build my resume, I met my wife here, and I have not personally been hit by a car, yet. I have decided to move to St. Petersburg, the Old North East, by downtown. I'm craving some walkable city life while I'm young and St. Pete has sidewalks and roads with speed limits less than 45 mph.
Good luck with your move! And if you're looking for some cheap, short term lodgings when you visit, consider this funky place, it's centrally located in the heart of Tampa.

Tampa Bay Florida - Hostel - Gram's Place
Hi Eastern Roamer, that is a neat link to Gram's - so they are still in business? I thought they were having some trouble with zoning issues or some such.

Anyway, Tampa is my home town, and I kind of have a love-hate relationship with it, but it has been good to me and hubby too. Hubby got here by way of Indiana/Brussels/Sarasota, and he has a great job in downtown. We can't complain at all. And while there are a lot of improvements that could stand to be made there, it is far from an awful place to live (or work or live near to). Lots of great people there, and a wonderful rich history.

Thanks for posting that link!
