Coffee house/music
Hey, I am new to the Tampa area around the USF campus. Does anyone know of any good cafes/coffeshops or venues that have live local bands? I am looking to see some of the alt music scene but I don't know any specefic locations.

pick up a CreativeLoafing or go to creativeloafing.com.
Around USF I know of Sacred Grounds(coffee house) on Busch Blvd, and the Brass Mug(bar) on Feltcher Ave. There is also a bar (University Club??) on Fowler Ave, and Skipper's Smokehouse on Skipper Road(Bearss and Skipper).
IN Ybor, some great venues are Crowbar, Orpheum, New World Brewery, Blues Shark, and others with live music.
Any Green Iguana around town will have local live music.

Jannus Landing. Loads of good shows. Also Orlando is not that far to see someone good. I live between Miami and Tampa and pretty much every show I've been to has been in one or the other. Some in Ft Lauderdale but I think Tampa has a better scene due to the college (for alternative).
Yes its humid but most people know that when they come here. Miami is hotter than Tampa. I was in Austin, TX in July and it was also a swamp so yeah if you want dry go to Arizona.
