Had to cross the street at Curtis Hixon Park to avoid the group - thought since I was clean shaven, neatly dressed that I'd stick out like a sore thumb in the group.

I like Ann Coulters quote about the occupiers......they need THREE things......a shower, a job, and a point. (okay, might have been paraphrased). But thankfully the group is getting smaller and smaller at Curtis Hixon every day.

You're trying to quote Ann Coulter.

Ann Coulter.

Really?

I guess that's Tampa for ya.

I agree, so many people but no message. I imagine that most of the protesters are college students. In my opinion they should be arguing against the astronomical increase of student loan debt.

They should be demanding congress to repeal the Bankruptcy Abuse and Prevention Act of 2005 which removes bankrupcy protections from private student loans. We have a generation of college grads who will not be able to purchase homes, cars for several decades because they will be slaves to debt (for an overpriced degree) for the next 30 years.

All that money going to student loan payments could be used by these consumers to purchase homes, cars and kick start our economy.

Cash has been stagnant since this depression began and it's killing businesses.

Recovery will not happen if people don't start buying things. Businesses will not hire unless people start buy their products/services. The unemployed will not get meaningful jobs until businesses start hiring.

But people can't buy things because they have no money, because it goes towards student loans and trying to survive. I think the task starts at evaluating how much money the student loan industry is usurping from our economy.

We all know there is no reason to spend $100,000 for a 4 year bachelors degree, yet that is the price schools are charging and Sallie Mae is making a killing off the interest. If we could begin to make serious reforms, I think it would go a long way.

Community college and state colleges cost that nowadays? That's how I got my degree, no college loans required. And I got a degree in a practical major where there's a demand - not anthropology.

I suppose I should have clarified private schools as the extreme. The cost to go to UM for 1 year is near $40,000. This is dangerous
