There are plenty of great places here in Tampa to meet people! No-one even mentioned the Channelside district (howl at the moon is awesome), ybor city, HUBS pub downtown, harbour island, and other local favorites for years like the Dallas Bull, and other night spots through out tampa that others have gone to for years and they have GROWN.

what are your interests???

Although GregLane appears to be on a revive ancient threads trend right now, this thread had/has the potential to be EPIC.

Seriously! How do you even find threads over three years old?

I agree, this one could have been fun. I'd bet the real estate agent never even goes to those places she mentioned. Her post reads like a brochure.

Do you know what I'm throwing? check out my myspace page as well. Thanks!

This is Florida after all. The dating scene here is among the worst I've ever seen. I wish you luck, but please be careful. There's alot of scum here that seems like good people.
Completely agree with this post.
The dating scene here is terrible. If you are highly educated, cosmopolitan, well read and traveled, progressive and expect similar to date similar people - you will most likely end up being single, because there are few people like that here. In addition to that - if you aren't into the bar scene, you will find it extremely difficult to meet young people and singles. Many have posted about meetup and other similar stuff, and I've tried it all. Meetup tends to be full of older singles, and while they are great, there aren't many common topics of conversation if a 20-something talks to a 40-something. There are sports leagues, and things like that - but people in general don't seem to go there to make friends. It's like this: arrive 5 mins before a league game, play the game, go home. You can't really make friends that way. This is an unfortunate reality considering that Tampa Bay is indeed a beautiful part of this country with great weather. But then, keeping in mind that Tampa ranked at the bottom or so of a list 'Most Educated Cities' recently published by Forbes / Fortune, this is hardly surprising. If you love drinking and partying 24 x 7 and watching football all weekend and seek like-minded folks, this is nirvana

I wouldn't put much stock into anything pub'd by Forbes especially about culture.

I'd rather face the challenges that come with dating in a larger metropolitan instead of dating within a "small town."

I am somebody who would try 100 different things before forming an opinion. The Forbes survey was published long after I had somewhat formed an opinion based on my experiences, and it only seemed to confirm my suspicions - it is a tough scene out here for the kind of people I've mentioned. Besides, I'm not comparing Tampa Bay to small towns, the playing field always has to be level for any kind of comparison
