It is the 1st cold front since I arrived and last night I tried to turn the heating on. It doesn't work , it was working (I think, it was in April) when I bought, but not last night and 2 neighbors came to try to start it. Only cold air . I only have a tiny portable heater, that was good for my bedroom, not more.
Would anyone know someone who could fix it urgently. I would be very grateful.
Thanks a lot

I would try and wait until monday. It will be cheaper than having them come out during off hours. It's not going to be as cold as last night and it's going to continue to get warmer in the next few days.

He won't be needing heat for many days after today. Just call a A/C company.

When I said "urgently" I didn't mean within 2 hours, but many people like plumbers, electricians etc... claim to be overwhelmed for the... 2 or 3 next weeks .
And I know nobody, so rather than looking in the yellow Pages, I would appreciate some recommendations. So I can call tomorrow morning.
Thanks.

Call Ierna's. They are HONEST. And reasonable, actually. I had an AC problem a few years ago...had two companies come out and tell me I needed a new unit. Estimates were in the 5-8k range. Called Ierna on a friend's recommendation. The service guy said no....you don't need a new unit, at least not yet. He tinkered with it and did...whatever...got it running again, and for like...80 bucks. He did say the unit would likely break down more often...it was installed in like 1994...but he could keep it running for a few more years.

A few more years, it broke down a few more times, they kept coming out and fixing it. Finally, we decided to replace it....used Ierna....got a good deal.

I've used Advanced Cooling Systems, Inc. Phone: (727) 738-6006 for maintenance and to install a new heat pump and air handler about a year ago. I've found them prompt, professional and effective. I got them off Angie's List (I interviewed five firms before selecting ACS).

I have no affiliation with the company or anyone who works for them at all - I'm just a customer.

Sounds about right to have a guy in a van with all those tools to drive to your residence and spend time looking into your unit.

Sounds fair to me. Most will charge you more than that.

And if you give the job to them, many will apply that fee to the amount they will charge. Ask if they will do this.

Good Luck.
