Hi,

I would like any information/opinions etc. regarding employment options for my husband in the auto-mechanic field.

He is more than just a mechanic however lol. We owned our own Auto-Repair/Restoration business for 15 years on the Central Coast of CA.

He has been a mechanic since 19yo and is now mid 50's. He is ASE Certified as far as possible, VERY responsible, reliable etc.

Right now he is at a flat rate of $30 per hour. The company was sold earlier this year and all pay scales were changed. Before the *adjustments* he earned his flat rate, monthly bonus of 5% on net sales and commission on warranty work. He is shop foreman and mechanic. His income is now half of what it was 8 months ago. Such is life.

We live in Central TX and have been planning a move for about the last 14 months, even before the income dropped.

Considering what we want, process of elimination finds us seriously looking toward St. Petersburg/Sarasota area.

He wants to begin sending out resumes in that general area. He has a web-site that lists quality shops, but we both agree that I should ask here, on the forum for opinions, or even the always welcome; ' You should ask such and such, they are very professional, been in business a long time, pays well, (very well? If at all possible!LOL)

Please forgive the long winded post.

We miss living by the water, dining outside by a marina and having a nice walkable downtown. Yes, all that costs money lol. Although, after living on the central coast of CA (I lived many years in the Laguna Niquel, Dana Point area of CA) prices do not shock us much .

We did not come away with money when we left CA and after three years in TX we will not have a savings to speak of, but we will not let that stop us from moving as long as he can find a more than decent paying company to work for

Thank you!
