Where is your employment and the hours you will be working.
I will be working downtown 7-5 or 8-6. My husband will be working out of St. Petes and Clearwater with a flexible schedule

What is your budget for housing. Do you want to rent or buy?

I want to rent a 3-4 bedroom, <$3500

Are schools a concern?
Yes- two kids in elementary school

What is an acceptable commute time?
Staying under 30 minutes for me
What else is important to you?

Safety, safety, safety

Please provide any need to know info about the living options in between the two areas. There appears to be a few places for rent that may fit the bill but I don't know anything about those areas/neighborhoods....

Thanks.

If you are working in St Pete and want an under 30 minute commute i'd focus on a community between St Pete and Clearwater and forget about Tampa.
As for really safe communities? Stay away from south-side St Pete and you should be fine..

Or you could look at properties along Westshore Blvd, and take Gandy bridge over to St Pete.

This way, you'll be in between.

Cullbreath Isles, Westshore Yacht Club would be good choices and would give you a decent commute in either direction. Schools are better on that Tampa side than St Pete.

I agree with Algia on S. Tampa. The St.Pete trip to work will be easier than living in St Pete and trying to get to Tampa during rush hour. You also have 2 choices if one is backed up you can take the other bridge to St. Pete.

I see 3 bridges. How do they rank in terms of traffic/accidents?

The most congested is going to be the Howard-Frankland, as that's the interstate. The Courtney Campbell probably ranks second, and the Gandy third. I'd also suggest South Tampa, mainly the area north of Gandy and south of Kennedy.

Sounds like you didn't read OP. One spouse is working in St Pete/Clearwater but the other spouse is working in Tampa.
