Hi, i recently got my driving license in tampa i.e august. Never had a license before. Got the insurance quote from geico at 390$ per month comprehensive. Have tried other insurances but this was the cheapest for my profile ( am 24 years old btw ). Is there anything else that can be done to get a cheaper quote ?
Thanks

HOLY CRAP! Are you sure that is not for 6 months? Try State Farm or Allstate, they have always had the best rates for me.

I would have thought that quote couldn't have been real a year ago. Now my friends have kids who are starting to drive and on average, they pay $500 more each month for each kid. According to the agents, I guess the rates stay almost that high until you turn 25. So I'm guessing at 24 you're not going to get a much better quote than that, unfortunately.

Are you still a student? If so and you get good grades that can lower your rate. A good credit score also and I use 21st Century which beat all the others with the same coverage and they have nice customer service.

Geico is always way higher and I got so annoyed with their sale talks and repeat phone calls that I started to ask if we all have to pay so much more at if we use geico to keep warren buffett as the wealtiest or one of, by overpaying or paying more than else where just to pay for the ad on tv...and than they stopped bothering me...lol

It's not higher for us. We pay $90/month for two cars. Lowest quote I could find.

Call around to brokers where they compare many companies. Something like Family Ins. Co

The amount you quoted seems outrageous. I don't pay that amount for 6 months. Yes my vehicle is older and I have a good driving record, but I'm sure you can do better.

Your rates factor in your coverage "BIG TIME". Check your coverage and your deductible. The higher the deductible the lower your premium. If you are paying $90 a month for two cars, I would imagine your coverage and limits are very low.

If you compare companies with the same exact coverage, credit, deductible, driving record, payment plan; they should all be about the same. Maybe $100+ difference between them. Multi-property coverage also get's you a bigger discount; i.e. homeowners + multi-Car.

Than you hardly have any coverage. That is where Geico seems to be the cheapest, but if you want decent coverage than you pay more and GEico becomes way more expensive as others...Geico employees tried to tell me that under Florida Law I didn't need all these higher converages
