We are coming up on a year that we have been living here and are loving every minute of it except for food. We have been craving anything Chicago related.

Can someone name a few places in the Tampa Bay area where we can get some Chicago style pizza (not Giordano's), a Chicago style dog and/or a real Italian beef?

We live in Lithia but will drive pretty much anywhere for a taste of food from back home.

Former Chicagoan here. My best solution:

1. buy airline ticket to MDW or ORD and pack a coat, boots and gloves
2. fly to Chicago
3. eat pizza
4. fly home, put on flip-flops

They have some supposedly Chicago style sandwiches and hotdogs (Vienna brand last time I was there) at Moxies Too deli near the airport (Tampa International) on Benjamin. I have never been to Chicago so I can't confirm or deny the authenticity, but they do serve a Chicago style hotdog with all the stuff on it that fans of that style seem to enjoy. They also have Chicago-style Italian beef on the menu. I checked the menu for what I guess is the original Moxies in downtown, they don't seem to have the hotdogs at that location, or at least not on their pdf menu, but they do have the Italian beef there.

deep dish pizza and some thin crust, I think(like Home Run Inn). very good
italian beef sandwiches. very good
hot dogs(vienna beef?) with a crazy selection of toppings(pickles, peppers, relish and some other stuff). I'll hold judgement until I try one.

Chicago Grill & Dog House - Largo, FL, on Ulmerton Rd. Just west of Tampa, near Clearwater and St Pete. Also called Bruce's sometimes. I think Bruce is the owner. This place is authentic. Italian Beef sandwiches and Vienna hot dogs and even the feel of the place is just like a typical Chicago joint.

For Chicago Pizza - there is an Aurelio's in Ft Myers, just off I-75. They are a chain with most locations in Chicago .
Pizzaria Uno is in Lake Buena Vista, just outside Disney World. They used to have one in Ft Myers but it closed 2 years ago when many of them shut down due to the economy. I think the Disney area one remains open.
