The biggest problems will be hurricanes and tornadoes. You will be required to evacuate even F1 hurricane. Tornadoes while not a huge problem they are around albeit usually smaller they can tear up a MBH. I remember a tornado hit a MHP near Sarasota or Bradenton years ago and destroyed nearly the whole park.

If it is a newer mobilehome they are built better than the older ones.

Tornadoes are rarely a concern here. Hurricanes could be. But keep in mind, we have not had a hurricane hit Tampa since the 1920's... Tropical storms are not likely to blow a properly tied down trailer over.

Your bigger issue is security, they are easy to break into.

I've been wondering about security. How do people secure their homes without using a security service? I was thinking I could set up some webcams that ring a cell phone if motion triggered showing the video.

Ask around the neighborhood. Do they have a security system?

There is a mobile home area at the corner of Mcmullen road and SR580 with a lot of MH, it seems to be secure. I have never heard of anything happening there.

They dont. They get a security system. Why would you consider any wacky self-rigged up thing like that?

Because it's direct to me and I can immediately see what's happening. But I'm thinking moving somewhere where my neighbors are looking out for me instead of me watching out for them is a better bet. Plus it seems a lot of mobiles are placed on undesirable land, like flood zones or pollution.

Not if you get a great deal on the land, there are other lots with legit homes, and you plan to build in the future. Otherwise, I'd say yeah, not something I would do. Especially with the housing market being what it is right now.

I live in a 55+ gated community 400 homes. It been around 30 year and nver been hit by any hurricanes. I own the hoem but have to pay rent form the lot that it sits on. This keeps going up everyyear. So I think owning the loy yoo is a good idea, Jacobsen HOmes are located in Safety Harbor making brand new modern homes. Can be moved wherever.

Fact: a hurricane has not hit Tampa since the 1920's. Tropical storms have only impacted us a few times in that timeframe, even though we dealt with 2 of them in 2004. None since.

Storms are nothing to worry about...
