Hi,
We are looking at a condo for sale in Clearwater Beach.We don't commute and schools are not an issue.
We are interested in a safe and relatively peaceful area.I realize the beaches may be crowded during the day,however I would like to avoid hoards of late night party goers.
Any information on restaurants,crime and such would be helpful.Insights on what it is like living there would be appreciated.

Thanks !

The city of Clearwater Beach includes the main beach area that you're referring to plus the Sand Key area (over the Bridge from the south end of the main beach section) which also has nice beaches but more private, and the Island Estates area which is just off the Causeway about 1/2 mile before you get to the main beach area and it has a grocery store, gas station, bank, restaurants, etc.

If you want to be in the main beach section but away from the more crowded areas there is the Regatta Beach club towards the north end of the main beach section and there is also Clearwater Point which is right by the bridge over to Sand Key at the south end of the main beach section. I think that those would be the ones which would probably be most likely to be most away from any late night partying.

Sand Key is very nice and has a Columbia restaurant but no grocery stores or gas stations. It is mostly high-rise condos on the beach facing the Gulf. There are other condo complexes across the street and one community with waterfront houses.

Island Estates is also a nice community (I've lived there) and has more of a neighborhood feel to it but is still within biking distance to the beach and there is the Jolly Trolley that will take you to and from the beach.

So there are quite a few choices in addition to complexes right in the heart of the beach area like the Mandalay Beach Club, Belle Harbor and others. Those would be right in the main beach section where you would either be on or across the street from the beach and right by the restaurants and shops - but would be in the busiest areas.

Hope that helps you.

Sincerely,
Ron

Safe = Yes
Hoards of Party Goers = Not Rally
Restaurants = Plenty

Living there would be like living in most places. However, in tahtarea you will have to drive a bit for good shopping. The good news is, there are lots of small local businesses that you can support and they will provide you with outstanding service.

clearwater beach doesn't strike me as party central. more like family/tourist/snowbird central.

it is a very nice area, though. if it weren't for the mobs of fanny packers, i'd say it's one of very best beaches in the region. (siesta key is still my fav)
