Default Where are the best seafood markets?

Hi,

I moved to the area a couple of months ago, and I have yet to find a decent seafood market. I thought living so close to the ocean that there would be tons of markets around town. Most places I go barely sell any fish. Does anyone happen to know of any seafood markets that sell spots, croackers, etc in the Tampa area?

Fresh fish is hard to find here even though we are near the ocean. There is a pretty nice fish market up in downtown Tarpon Springs. You need to take a cooler as they are mostly whole fish and shellfish. Good though.

Tarpon Springs has some good seafood but depending on where you live it can be a long drive. There are several places that sell fresh seafood.

Actually, Publix has pretty good seafood. They sometimes buy from local fishermen especially fish like snapper or grouper. Stay away from WD as they actually place frozen seafood from their store and defrost and sell it for more than it would cost if you bought it frozen.

There use to be a good market in Oldsmar across from the Flea market and actually a guy sells shrimp, crab and fish out of a trailer at the flea Market. maybe Annie knows the name.

Land and Sea is another good market

Wow! Brushing all Winn Dixie Chain stores like that? I never bought fish/seafood from them but it sounds odd that they just defrost and ask more money in every store

OP: Fish/sea food is expensive here. I tend to go for sale and stock in deep freezer.

It might help to know where you live. There's a couple of good ones in Dunedin, for example.

Stay away from Winn Dixie in general. Dirty stores that smell like rotten fish.

We have GREAT seafood places in Bradenton/Sarasota. Including in Cortez, where you can get it right off the boat. Doesn't get any fresher than that.
