Tampa weather - Too Hot?
Okay, have read alot of the posts on Tampa and appreciate the advice. I'm still on the fence, but will probably go on the interview anyway. Wanna start a new conversation.
I live in NY. Work in Brooklyn. Today was about 86 degrees with over 65% humidity. Brooklyn felt like it was about 95 (to me), especially in "da hood", which is where I work mostly (am a parole office and go out in the field alot).
Point is, I hated the heat today and this past summer in NY was a little tough. As I get older, I get less tolerant of extreme weather conditions, particularly heat (can tolerate cold more).
So, question is, how would I fare in Tampa during the summer, driving around, visiting people all over the place? Can anyone compare a northeast big city summer to a summer in Tampa? How do people cope? The one gripe I've noticed the most in regards to Tampa is the heat/humidity. That alone is really getting me nervous. Please discuss/advise. Thanks.

for 5 months every single day in tampa is way way hotter and more humid than anything u have ever felt in brooklyn with no break whatsoever...i used to live on long island...its africa hot for 5 months here, dangerously hot....then its absolutely beautiful for 7 months...if u dont like the scorching heat i wouldnt even consider moving here, many NYers move here and run back to NY within 3 yrs

It gets just as hot and humid in NYC as it does in Tampa during the summer. As the previous poster stated, you'll have to endure it for a longer time frame. I would not recommend moving to Florida to someone who can tolerate cold more than they can heat.

I'm sure it does get much hotter in Tampa, but I would still rather be in a laid back tropical place in the heat than someplace that's 100% concrete and stress. Not to mention standing on those subway platforms in the heat

Definitely look into having your car windows tinted if you need to be driving all day.

That's a very good point. When you put it that way, it seems like it would be more tolerable.
The concrete, traffic, hordes of people, subways, buildings - everything compounds the heat in NYC, so that an 85 degree day here can seem much hotter.
More input?

I think it mostly depends on you--you said you travel to Puerto Rico a lot--how well do you handle the heat there?

I love Puerto Rico weather! The heat in P.R. is diff. from the heat in NYC. P.R., no matter how hot, there's always breeze, and you can sit under the shade of a tree and be fine. There ain't no breezes in NYC in summer.
Also, beaches in P.R. are very pleasant, again because of the constant breeze.
If the weather in Tampa is comporable to that in P.R., then I would love it.

I've just done a real informal comparison of P.R. weather and Tampa weather via the weatherunderground website. Like I said, it's informal, bit Tampa looks hotter than even P.R. Ouch.

Some people on here claim there is a breeze on the Gulf coast of Florida (I didn't' experience that during my visit though). When I was in Palm Beach Cnty on the atlantic side there was definitely a nice breeze a lot of the time.
