I did some research online but I can't find a definate answer as to what the exact costs are that I will incure with going to the Florida DMZ and registering my vehicle here. Any insight on the first time registration costs would be helpful.

I know I need to get my insurance changed to FL.

Thanks for you help!

I just registered mine last week. I got specialty plates and paid for next year's registration too ($60) since my birthday is in 2 months and I didn't want to come back again in 2 months. It was $240 total and change.

like $200ish 1st year.
They nuke you for an extra hundred if you cant trade in some old FL plates. I did it in 2005.
The next year is only like $50

Default Rates go up Sept. 1st

Registration on titles/transfers goes up Sept. 1.......get those cars registered before then or you'll end up with paying extra.

Default Registrations fees

Only one plate in the back.........had to search for my other post about fees going up. Some fees are going up 100%.

THIS TAKES EFFECT SEPT. 1ST

Original title (transfer from out of state) For example: Honda Civic
Total title and registration, including initial registration fee
Before: $161.85
After: $351.40
Percent change: 117%

117% change is crazy...who came up with that idea...Are they trying to keep new residents from coming here? if so, thats a good way to do it...

I agree, plus with soooo many people out of work, these higher fees will only encourage people NOT to renew, many seniors here are on fixed incomes and that extra increase can or will put them behind the 8 ball. But hey, I guess the state feels its better than bringing in a income tax. I have two cars due for renewal in Aug. I'm renewing for 2 yrs and it will cost me $220.00, in the long run I'll save about $65.00.
