The problem with Seaport is that it is in the middle of nowhere fun -- it is bordered by the Expressway, with the housing projects to the north, train tracks to the west, warehouses to the south and an active shipyard to the east. While easy to drive to, you really can't (or would want to) walk to anything from there.

The farthest north that would be a decent place is the Grand Central at Kennedy. I'm not sure what their prices are. While I mentioned Channelside earlier, the one downside of the Channelside area that you need to realize is that there is ZERO retail in the area. Also, there is no grocery, no drugstore, few late-night food options and a single gas station. A decade ago it was the "warehouse district" and not much as changed. They just replaced a few of the warehouses with apartments and condos but no retail developed. Expect to be driving 10-15 minutes to anything.

I would actually focus on the 33606 zip code south of Kennedy if you want convenient amenities or Harbour Island if you want the views.

Thanks again for the great insight. I've been looking at some condos online - The Madison at Soho. These seem to be conveniently located, close to work, retail, restaurants, bars, etc. Is that accurate? Anyone have any knowledge of this place?I believe they're in the 33606 zip you mentioned.

Are there any new(er) housing developments in the area? Most of the ones I've seen thus far are outdated/historic type homes.

That community is pretty much "ground zero" for the South Tampa scene. I'm not sure about the 3 am noise levels since you have the largest bar in the area (MacDinton's) at the adjacent property, but the location is right in the middle of all the action. You can probably get home on Friday afternoon and not need your car until Monday rolls around.

Default moving to tampa/st pete area

I am looking to move to the Tampa/St Pete area in the next month. Saw your thread here and wondered where you found the best place. I am orginally from Baltimore and I am looking for nightlife but safe area.
Thanks for any info.
