Hello, I am looking for a home in Holiday, in the area just north of Blossom Lake Dr. and east of Dartmouth Dr. (On Google maps it labels this area as Holiday Lake Estates.)

Does anybody know what this area is like? I believe the house for sale, not yet a short is in the vicinity of $60k. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

yeah, stay away...

My grandmother lives over there (has lived there forever and wont move) but the area kinda sucks, which is why you can buy a house for 60k.

It used to be mostly older people but its slowly being taken over by more trashy people.

Thank you both. I'm visiting from Canada Easter week, now I'm thinking of canceling the viewing. I might just do a driveby after lunch in Tarpon Springs, but after an unimpressive Google street view and your comments, that might be all. Thanks again!

That whole area is a drug dealers dream. It must be a big house if its 60k as most are selling for under 25k.

I hope the house is located on the lake that is in this area for 60,000. My mother lives in this area with her boyfriend and she hates the area.!5 years ago it wasn't that bad. Mostly older retired people like them. Most of them have died now.Very bad people have moved into the area due to the housing being so cheap from the bust. The area was always cheap. But now it is cheap and crummy. To bad for older people looking for a cheap retirement place. I don't even like to visit them anymore because of where they live. Her friend down the street just had her neighbor shot to death last month. I told her she can come visit me from now on at my house.

All someone has to do is a crime report check for the area. Westport in Portrichy which is a small hood has 3 FULL pages of crime reports over the last month.

We just sold a home on Blossom Lake last week and we know that the tenants mentioned before that they didn't feel very safe...

We never lived in the area so I can only tell you what we heard...but it is always hearsay.

Thanks very much all.

Fiege1224, no actually I think the house is on Maybury or Chelsea, I forget which, I remember doing a google search. Chasls2, really 25k? I searched on trulia.com and found that most were in the 50k ballpark and up. Anyway, judging by the almost unanimous comments on the negative, I think I'll look elsewhere.

You are right about the values. They are 40,000 at a low and right around 45,000 to 55,000 average. Before the boom I looked at the area and the houses were 35,000 off the lakes and 60,000 on the lake. They went up to 125,000 to 150,000 top of the boom. Pure crazy for that area. It only lasted at those prices about 1 year in this area. It was the last to peak on prices in the area. I ended up buying on the low in Hudson On the water and sold the house in 2005 at a very high price. I came back to Hudson in 2010 and looked again and its not the same either. I ended up in Cape Coral yacht club on the water again and its great for the money and easy access to airlines, beaches ect.By the way, I grew up in the IRB to sand key area of Florida and know this Whole area very well. Try the palm harbor or Dunedin area. I think you will do much better around that area if you want to stay in this area. I am not an agent just a happy mult. home owner. Happy house hunting.
