Got a job in Riverview. Where should I look for a house?
Hello everyone,
I got a job in Riverview, FL and will start looking for a house soon, but I don't know the area at all.
Maximum driving time should be 40 minutes. Amenities we're looking for: fishing (river or lake OK) for my husband; shopping, dining, various activities and entertainments for me.
We have no children so we're not concerned about schools. We'd just like a safe place with some character.
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Is there a price range you have in mind? # Bedrooms / Bathrooms?
There are many places that wouldn't be a long commute to Riverview but knowing a little more about what you'd like to spend would be a help before I can advise you.

If you are going to be working in RiverviewI'd suggest living in Riverview. We have a great number of communities at every price point. Be carefull about CDD and HOA fees though.

I agree why not Riverview. You are close to the Alifia river and state park for fishing and boating.

Ideally Riverview! you want to keep the commute as low as possible.
Or Brandon. Its about 11 minutes from Riverview, and might have better, less smelly, housing options.

Well, there's a factory of some sort on SR-41, and also a garbage mountain (I am sorry I don't what else to call it) It smells pretty bad.
From Apollo Beach up to after Gibsonton it stinks sometimes...

It's not a garbage mound. It's part of phosphate processing. I live in Apollo Beach, moved here 8 years ago from Downtown St. Pete and really have never smelled anything. Don't disbelieve you, just haven't experienced it.

Every time I passed by the mound it smelled like hell.
Mostly when driving on 41. If you're on 75 its not as bad...

Thank you everybody. I appreciate your suggestions.
To be more specific: I'm looking for a house, not an apartment. I would like to rent for the first year, so that I can get the chance to know if I like the area before we buy. Budget for 2+bedrooms 2 baths with pool either in the house or in the development is up to $1,500/mo.
I don't know Riverview, therefore I cannot say that I wouldn't like living right there - Boy, that would be a dream commute, right? - But I do know myself, and I know that I need an active community with lots of things to do in order to be happy. That is why I'm asking you. What do you think? Is Riverview a place where I might find nice coffee shops and restaurants, and maybe street fairs, etc.? Or should I look to Brandon or Tampa or where?
Thanks again
