Annual testing of backflow assembly
I am new to the Tampa area and was wondering about a letter that I received about an annual testing, which is mandatory for all residents it will cost me $34 for this even though is cheap is it consider to be something that important or if someone had it done is it for your home water system check up?

Backflow inspection?
I've wondered about this. Is a backflow inspection required only if you have a sprinkler system? I have a backflow pipe in my front yard, but no sprinkler system. When we had the home built we thought we might eventually put in a system. (Manatee County)

Read the notice closer, there are many companies that will send out official looking notices but it is not actually the county and it may not actually be a required inspection.

I would call the number listed in this
If you’ve received a notice that it’s time to have
your system’s backflow prevention assembly
tested, you’re encouraged to shop around for a
tester. They typically cost between $25 to $75.
The cross-connection control and backflow
ordinance is enforced by an eight-member board
appointed by County Commissioners. The board
issues citations and fines, and hears appeals.
For more information about backflow
prevention, including a list of companies which
offer tests of assemblies, call 635-7370.

It is a certified letter from the county of hillsborough, and in the back it has a list of certified people that can do it. I guess water is a big issue in Florida.

More like the lack of water in recent years. I didn't have a sprinkler system so I had never heard of the test either.
Good Luck..
