My wife and I have been scoping out the area and really would like to move to Old Northeast in St. Petersburg.

I work just South of Waters off of Anderson.

So what would be the best commute? 275 to the toll road north to Waters? 275 to Dale Mabry north? Something different?

I would want to be getting to work at 7:30 a.m. roughly.

Thanks.

275 to Veterans(TOLL), then exit 6A to go on Waters, make right(or left) on Anderson. Forget Dale Mabry...its stop and go with all the traffic lights.

BUT.......

That is NOT an easy commute! I mean its pretty to go over water everyday, but if there's an accident, or ppl don't have exact change at the Waters exit, it can take a while....

Thank you,

How long of a commute do you think it will be?

If you are in the area why not do the rush hour commute (Both ways)for a few days from St Pete NE to N Tampa, you'll get a better idea if you want to commit to that commute on a regular basis.
If all goes well it should take around an hour in rush hour, last time i did that route in rush hour (5pm Friday evening) it took me 2 hours to get from the Crescent Lake St.Pete area to the first toll booth on the Veterans highway,it was bumper to bumper all the way and i never got out of 1st gear, not sure what the problem was but there were sure a lot of people going each way.

30-40 minutes(before 7:30am not rush hour)...if you are there already...mapquest it and drive it at the time you'd be driving it every day! there is no better way to find out.

Thanks again for the responses.

I do plan on giving the commute a try - I realize I have to do that.

Problem is, my temporary apartment is in New Tampa, so I'd have a crazy drive just to get to St. Pete in the morning before I started the "test commute".

I would be leaving early in the mornings - probably 6:45 to get to work by 7:30 at first to try it out. 45 minute commute doesn't bother me - and I could deal with the occaisional accident or backup at the toll road. If it was an hour or more every day then that would be a problem.

After you've tried it a couple of times let us know what you think as it would be of interest to the many people moving to the Tampa St Pete area.
Personally i'd not want to be doing that commute everyday..
