looking to move to tampa but not sure which area is best. sort of in between clearwater and Hyde Park however, some friends have told me that north tampa is really nice as well. i have a large dog so it would have to be a pet friendly area. any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Deborah - Can you put in here what you are looking for?

Do you want to rent a home, apartment, townhouse, condo or do you want to buy. What is your rental range or what is your housing price limit. You want 1, 2, or 3 bedroom? Do you love being by the beach and the water? Do you like having a quiet, relaxing area to live? Do you need the hustle and bustle of a major city all the time?

What do you do on your time off? What to you do for employment?

I like North Tampa - but you don't what I like and I don't know what you like. So very hard to give some kind of comparison. I will tell you this, They are DIFFERENT!

Hi Gulfer,
I would prefer renting out a home or a townhome due to my dog. price range: no more than $1,600 per month. not looking to buy. just rent. i enjoy the beach, the gym and nice restaurants and as for work i am self employed. i would like a peaceful neighborhood but close to the hustle and bustle when i want it. Nice area where i can walk my dog. i have no small children so am not really looking for the suburban life. thank you so much for helping out.

My vote would be for Hyde Park. You can have the peaceful neighborhood and yet you are very close to the city as well. Hyde Park is a very walkable area for parks, restaurants, shopping, fitness..etc.. Renting for $1,600 a month it very doable also.

Hyde Park DOES sound nice . how far is it from clearwater beach? The problem i seem to be finding is a place that rents out to large dogs. well behaved or not.

Hyde Park to any beach is about a 40 minute drive. There are no direct freeways routes there. I used to live in the South Tampa-Hyde Park area and liked it as I was close to my work. However it has a totally differnt vibe in Tampa as oppose to the beaches near Clearwater. Its just a slower pace I think. Maybe rent a condo closer to the beaches for a while until you decide where you prefer. The Palm Harbor, Safety Harbor, Dundedin area are very good area also.

What type of dog and how big? You will have a tough time finding any place that will rent to you if you have a Rotti, Pitty or any breed that is deemed dangerous by ins companies.

I have a German Shepherd and he's about 90lbs. he's never been trained to be an attack dog. he's just a family pet. but yes....so difficult. anybody out there know of any particular townhome communities or any places where they are not so strict with german shepherds????
