We are getting ready to take a trip down to the Treasure Island, Florida area. I am not a big fan of snakes. What is the snake population there and are there any other things I should be aware of?
Thanks,
Leslie

Better get used to Palmetto bugs, aka flying cockroaches.

Snakes *shrug* I see one here and there but not very often at all.

Spiders certainly grow big down there.
If you sit on the ground watch out for fire ants.

I have lived on Treasure Island for 2 yrs now. Lots of palmetto bugs, a few black racers, but that's about it. I haven't had a mosquito or no see-um problem since I have been here.

Thanks for the info! If it has legs, it really doesn't bother me. Snakes just aren't my thing! Although, I would never harm a snake because I know that they have a purpose.
Is there anything in the water that I should be aware of?

Stingrays. Always shuffle your feet when you walk through the water. Other than that there is really nothing to worry about.
