Domestic disturbance is not what I call crime. A guy yelling at his wife is not a crime.

The rest of them are mainly minor offenses.

No drug arrests, except for probably some rolling paper, mischief, nothing out of the ordinary from any place else in the country.

Westport? That makes my Spring Hill neighborhood seem like Mayberry!

He just wants to play it down. The crime reports in Westport are about what you will see from Hudson to Holiday thru west Pasco. I can't think of a worse area in the whole country.

A drug house was just busted 2 weeks ago and there was another drug bust at the dulpex on Pocono St.

Again you know nothing since ya don't live in Westport.

Well, i'm not going to go that far. There are certainly much worse places.

Parts of DC, PG County Md, Baltimore, parts of Atlanta, most of New Orleans/Baton Rouge, Detroit, Toledo, parts of Chicago, East St Louis, Parts of LA, I could go on and on...

The most ridiculous statement of the year.

Be real already. This is not 1940.

OK. Then I guess we are looking at things through different lenses. You may be fine living in an area with minor offenses and domestic disturbances happening on a regular basis, but I'm not OK with that.

I do not want to live in an area where a guy is yelling at his wife so loudly the neighbors need to report it on a regular basis. I also do not want to live in an area where a lot of drug paraphernalia is found … people aren't going to have rolling paper or bongs or crack pipes or whatever unless they also have the drugs to use them.

And I don't want to be in an area where a lot of mischief is taking place.

That's why I don't want to live in Spring Hill anymore.

Minor offenses are still offenses. True, I don't fear for my life most days here … but I definitely don't feel my neighborhood is a decent area anymore.

Just out of curiosity, Spring Hillian, are you a real estate agent?

Your neighborhood may be a hell hole because of some people who live on your block. I dont seem to have these problems within ear shot of my house. I guess we knew what we were looking for when we bought here. Some did not.

True Identiy vs. a wild swing of the ax putting down an entire area because of a troublesome block or some whacked out outlaw town called "westport" is the problem .

I guess there are no neighborhood watches where all this is going on. If these people who live in this particular hell hole contacted the Sheriff's Office I can guarantee you it will stop or be stopped quite quickly. If you are in a area of rentals, you are going to get a different class of people over owner occupied areas, but problems can still be "removed". My niece and her husband recently went through a "removal" of a drug dealer and his supplier. Sheriff's Office got some complaints, investigated, ran their sting stuff and one sunny morning two Hernando County SWAT teams bashed in the front doors of two residences and arrested a whole lot of people. No more problem on that block.

So, if people would actually do something besides complain on a bulletin board there would be less
problems to deal with. It always seems that the posters are eye witnesses to crimes but do nothing about reporting or resolving the problem at hand.

Therefore, I find a lot of the "crime ridden hell hole" posts are nothing more than exaggerations and lack of understanding of today's real world.

It does everyone a disservice to completely deny the true identity of an area like certain people do here. I could name names, but I am on my "last chance", and that might be my last strike, so I wont.
