SAND KEY gets my vote- not crazy, clean restrooms, ample parking ( $5 a day ) and absolutely beautiful..and you can get to it through Bay to Bay..

Clearwater Beach is free. I-275 to 60 and you're there in an hour. Hit the north part of the beach if you want to avoid most of the tourists.

Ft Desoto has some of the best beaches in the state,beaches and parking are free but you have to go through 3 toll booths on the way out only,i forget what they charge but i think all 3 combined are only $2
