Can't complain about the post-storm weather this weekend...nicer than most of the rest of the USA, especially the midwest and northeastern US who have record temps, some in the 100s.

I'm already sick of this solid sunshine and no rain. With high pressure aloft locked in we don't stand a chance of getting any rain. Could be weeks before i get rain again.

We don't have normal summers anymore. We get too much all at one and then go weeks without a drop.

NAPLES -

Tropical Storm Barry has formed in the southern Gulf of Mexico. New data from aircraft circling Tropical Depression Two indicate it has strengthened into the tropical storm.

The National Hurricane Center is reporting that it is currently located about 75 miles east-northeast of Veracruz, Mexico.

Right now, TS Barry has sustained winds of 40 MPH. A storm is officially classified as a tropical storm at 39 MPH.

The storm is still not expected to impact Southwest Florida.

Tropical Depression Two strengthened to Tropical Storm Barry over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico Wednesday afternoon.

Barry will likely hit the Mexico state of Veracruz as a tropical storm early Thursday, bringing torrential rain and the risk of flooding in the region.

The system drifted over the warm waters of the southwestern Gulf of Mexico (Bay of Campeche) Tuesday night into early Wednesday. The warm water provided enough fuel for the depression to become Tropical Storm Barry prior to landfall.
