Ok, so we are so excited to be moving to Tampa for the weather. We dont know much about the area but when I told one lady we are moving there, she said "Did you know you are moving to the porn capital?"....

Then to make it worse, I turn on CNN and the only thing being glorified as amusement for the GOP repulican convention is strip clubs.

Can someone familiar with the Tampa area please shed some light on this. Is Tampa infested with strip clubs? I have lived in big cities/states before like Los Angeles, Maryland, San Jose...etc and I have only seen one strip club and that was in L.A and it was in a crowded area in Hollywood far away from nice suburbs.

Is this the same in Tampa or are these strip clubs all over the place like McDonalds?

It is hardly the "porn capital". Sure there are strip clubs here, but they arent every corner and certainly not "infested" in the city..

I think I read where there are 15 or so around the city. You can drive anywhere around this city and won't see one. Go South on Dale Mabry (South of the Raymond James Stadium) and you see one here and there.

It looks like a normal building usually in a rather run down strip mall, and you see the signs. You don't see people walking all over the place propositioning or anything like that. I bet if you were here one evening and drove around the areas for an hour or two, you would think it is just a normal city. Some good areas and some bad areas.

Off the wall question: Why wouldn't a left leaning media site like CNN try to shed negativity on something like that?

Wait a minute? did Vegas become the nun capital of the world, or did I miss something? Tampa couldn't hold a candle to Miami, let alone Vegas! Lots of wishful thinking here! but good to know our politicians are not ready to relinquish their reputations yet!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually just realized WHY we're gaining that label now....its because that tinzty wintzy stretch of Dale Mabry right before 275 that's probably as far as some idiot drove that did not know his/her way around Tampa, and who was also too old to know how to use GPS!!!!!!!! OMG! Give me a break...the only "capital" here is the Motorized Cart one! Watch your feet when you move...you may need them replaced thanks to these rude ppl who are too fat to walk! If we were any normal porn anything there would be more slim ppl around! Unless there's some new porn I didn't know about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:

It's a huge exaggeration. There's a few on S. Dale Mabry and some more on Adamo Drive (outside of Tampa) and they are not as prevalent as the media makes it out to be.

The valley outside of LA is the "porn capital" of the world

We have a lot of strip clubs here... so what.

If you dont like it, move to Bum****, Alabama

We dont need your approval or not, and honestly dont care about your opinion. If you dont like them, dont patronize them

Sometimes after reading a few posts I really feel sorry for the OP. This is one of them.

Behind HCC by the back of the airport there is bunch. I seen more in Pinellas, driving though Largo/Pinellas Park/Clearwater I am sure there is a boatload in NPR.
