Hello all,

Is there any way to tell if a house would have flood insurance? Is it based on proximity to the bay? Any body of water? For example I saw this house in Oldsmar below and see a small lake...do those with small ponds/lake view automatically have flood insurance? Not sure i quite understand how that works?

What are we looking at money wise approximately for flood insurance...that woudl be in ADDITION to property taxes and homeownser also right?

1752 Split Fork Dr Oldsmar, FL Eastlake Oaks Ph 1 $299,900 MLS #U7556761

It should say on the MLS data sheet or an attachment. The attachment is listed for this one and specifically states this property is NOT located in a Flood Zone.

Your insurance is normally wrapped up into your payments (PITI) Principal, Interest, Taxes, and Insurance. The mortgage provider normally wants to ensure that the home is always covered.

Flood zone map

Keep in mind, even if your house isnt in a flood zone, and it floods, your regular insurance will not pay a dime

In proximity to the bay, I'd definitely carry flood insurance if I owned that home.

It's close to water, but I can't tell what the elevation of the home is. Proximity to water is important, but elevation more so.

In theory, most of the metro area is in a "flood zone". However, for many of these properties to see water would be a Noah-like event.

Get it. If the drainage backs up during a storm, you'll wish you had it.
