Looking for nice, safe area, rent at first (if this happens).... howmuch would 2/ 3 br home rentals be in this area? wld like to be at 1400 or less /month on a rental. would buy later on...... not finding much on internet and i'm 400 miles away right now.

any advice greatly appreciated. We could be 20 min from old northeast if it's a good/ better less expensive option.

Middle school search in the area / public, catholic. THANK UUUUU.

Looking through Google theres plenty to rent but the majority is 1-2 bed places, the few 3bdr's seem to be running around $1000 a month ..

Be aware St Petes St's run north south.aves east west , Avenues count down from the north to Central where to the south they start counting up again but with the south designation, you want to only look for address with a north designation as a south designation puts you in the questionable part of town.
As an example an address of 656 1st St. North would be on 1st north with the cross street being 6th ave North.

Editors of This Old House have named St. Pete's Old Northeast as the "best old-house neighborhood" in Florida, one of the sixth best in the country, and the best neighborhood for gardening.

Boasting an eclectic mix of traditional house styles, Old Northeast is set amid the kind of lush, tropical landscape that put the Sunshine State on the map. Once farmland, the area was developed in 1911 as St. Petersburg's first neighborhood and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Outdoorsy types love its waterfront parks and miles of hiking and biking trails along the Tampa Bay and the Coffeepot Bayou, while culture mavens take in concerts and art shows at the historic Palladium Theater, among other venues. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance, and events like an annual Easter-egg hunt, Independence Day parade, and street closings for Halloween trick-or-treating attract throngs of local families.
Thus, alot of the homes are quite large & rents tend to run between $1800 - $2700.
You may want to also consider Crescent Lake, Allendale, Woodlawn, Snell Isle, Shore Acres
which are all less the 5 minutes of Old NE. I know of 2 nice single family homes available now in
Shore Acres that probably will be leasing for less than $1300.
This week, I am going to take pictures of another nice 4/2/2 w/pool in the
Disston Heights neighborhood that will be leasing for $1500 a month.
Please let me know if you need more info & here's a great link to help with the
school info. for public & private.
