I'm 21 years old and plan on one day moving to Lakeland due to it close proximity to Orlando and Tampa.. does anyone who lives in Lakeland travel to Orlando or Tampa for work and is it a long drive, which one is faster to get to?

The drive is pretty much 45 min to either one , and traffic on I4 can be a nightmare, the closer you get to either one traffic can come to a standstill during rush hour. Depending on where you end up in Lakeland you can take the Polk Parkway to by pass some of I4 to get to Orlando , but that only takes away part of the traffic that is in Polk county, but you still hit all the traffice once you get into Osceola then Orange county , there is no real way to avoid I4 whether you go to Orlando or Tampa... all around NIGHTMARE

Not a good choice to live in Lakeland and commute to Orlando or Tampa... really....
But it all depends on your work schedule. If you are not a M-F & 8-5 worker, than you might not be sitting in traffic. I personally think I-4 around Disney parks are always busy no matter what time it is....

Because it's a very pretty city with lot's of shopping, theaters, and things to do. A plethora of wonderful golf courses finishes off the goody bowl, says the old phart who now owns a home here and snowbirds from Canada.

Commute to Tampa or Orlando ~ no way Jose!
